Golf: Guadalajara Day 2 Ragin’ Cajuns Golf Finishes Third at Guadalajara IntercollegiateMorgan Landry and Justin Lowe both finished in the top-10 to lead the Cajuns. GUADALAJARA, Mexico-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns golf team kicked off the spring season with a third place finish at the Guadalajara Intercollegiate in Guadalajara, Mexico. The Cajuns fell just one-stroke shy of tying Houston and Indiana for first place. The Cajuns used rounds of 308, 290 and 299 for a combined team score of 897, just one stroke off the pace. Junior Morgan Landry paced the Cajuns, finishing in a tie for fifth in the tournament. Landry finished six over par for the tournament. Joining Landry in the top-10 was Justin Lowe. The junior rebounded from an opening round 81 to shoot a three-under par round of 69 on day one. In the final round of the tournament, Lowe carded a 75 to finish just three strokes back of Landry in a tie for 10th. In his first action in over a year, Peter Badawy made an immediate impact for the Cajuns. He was consistent shooting rounds of 75, 74 and 77 respectively. For his efforts, Badawy placed in a tie for 13th. Rounding out the top five for the Cajuns were Devin Carrey and Michael Smith. Carrey finished the tournament in a tie for 23rd after shooting rounds of 76, 74 and 80 respectively. Smith, the Cajuns top performer from the 2005-06 season and the fall, had an uncharacteristic tournament. The junior improved each round, but rounds of 81 and 79 on day one were too much to overcome. He did post the second best round for the Cajuns on day two when he shot a 74. The Ragin’ Cajuns golf team will continue play this fall as they travel to Houston, Texas on Feb. 26-27 to take part in the All-American Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Houston.
