Golf: Battle on the Bend Day 2 Cajuns Finish Fourth at Battle on the BendMichael Smith finished tied for fifth to lead the Cajuns. MANY, La.-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s golf team concluded play at the 2006 Battle on the Bend at the Toledo Bend Country Club. The Ragin’ Cajuns finished fourth in the tournament, just 10 strokes back of the tournament winner Sam Houston State. Texas-San Antonio came in second, with Baylor claiming the three spot. Rounding out the top five was fellow Sun Belt Conference member New Orleans. Fergal Rafferty of Sam Houston State captured the tournament’s individual championship. For UL, junior Michael Smith finished as the Cajuns top performer. He shot a final round of even par to tie for fifth. A trio of Ragin’ Cajuns tied for 18th – Devin Carrey, B.C. Thibeaux and Morgan Landry. Carrey and Thibeaux both carded two over-par rounds to finish the tournament, while Landry shot one over-par in the final round. Rounding out the scoring for the Ragin’ Cajuns were Kyle Pritchard, Mark Brockhurst and Colin Richwine. Pritchard finished tied for 42nd. Brockhurst and Richwine, who were competing as individuals, finished 37th and 42nd respectively.
