Golf: Battle on the Bend Day 1

Michael Smith and Kyle Pritchard both tied for 13th to lead the Ragin’ Cajuns.

MANY, La.-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s golf team started play at the 2006 Battle on the Bend at the Cypress Bend Golf Club in Many, La. The host Cajuns concluded first round in a tie for fourth place. 

The Ragin’ Cajuns finished the day just four shots out of the lead behind Texas-San Antonio. 

The Cajuns had a trio of players who finished in the top-15 of the tournament, with three others placing in the top-25. 

Michael Smith, Kyle Pritchard and Colin Richwine all tied for 13th.  The three Cajuns carded three-over par rounds of 75. 

Finishing one stroke back was Devin Carrey, B.C. Thibeaux, III, and Mark Brockhurst.  The round of 76 was good enough for a tie for 22nd. 

Rounding out the scoring for the Cajuns was Morgan Landry.  Landry finished the day with a 77, placing 31st after one round. 

Richwine and Brockhurst competed as individuals.
