Golf: Kansas Invite Day 2 Cajuns Golf Places Seventh at Kansas InvitationalDevin Carrey paced the Cajuns with his seventh place finish. LAWRENCE, Kan.-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s golf team concluded play at the Kansas Invitational with a seventh place finish. The Cajuns were led by sophomore Devin Carrey who finished the tournament in a tie for seventh place individually. For the second round in a row, the UL golf team broke 300 with their score of 299. The Cajuns finished the tournament with a combined team score of 901, which was good enough for a seventh place finish. The Cajuns finished 39 strokes behind tournament host and champion Kansas. The Jayhawks were the only team to break par for the entire three rounds, and won the tournament by 20 strokes. The Ragin’ Cajuns were one of three Sun Belt Conference schools to compete in the event. UL finished four strokes higher than North Texas (8th) and 20 strokes ahead of Western Kentucky (14th). Individually, Carrey paced the Cajuns with his seventh place finish. He shot a final round 74 to finish the tournament at two over par. Following back-to-back rounds of 77, Michael Smith shot a one-over par 73 to finish the tournament in a tie for 33rd. Morgan Landry and Mark Brockhurst both finished the tournament in a tie for 48th. Landry finished the tournament with a two-over par 74, while Brockhurst carded a 79 on the final day. Rounding out the scoring for the Cajuns were Kyle Pritchard and BC Thibeaux. Pritchard finished the tournament in a tie for 55th. Thibeaux, who was participating in the event unattached, shot a final round 74 to finish the tournament in a tie for 26th. The Ragin’ Cajuns golf team will take the next three weeks off before competing in the Louisiana Tech/Squire Creek Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 16-17.
