Golf: Kansas Invite Day 1 Cajuns Golf Seventh at Kansas InvitationalFreshman Devin Carrey paced the Cajuns with a tie for fourth place after one day. LAWRENCE, Kan.-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s golf team concluded play on Day One at the Kansas Invitational, and after two rounds, the Cajuns finished the day in seventh place. One of the main reasons for the Cajuns’ success in the first two rounds was freshman Devin Carrey. He posted an opening round 73 to pace the Cajuns. In the second round, Carrey improved his stroke total to shoot a one-under par 71. His two round even par performance ties him for fourth on the overall leaderboard. As a team, the Cajuns posted an opening round score of 306 to finish the round in a tie for 13th place. In the following round, UL rebounded and shot 10 strokes better as a team. Their 296 in the second round moved the Cajuns into seventh place overall in the 16-team tournament. Tournament host Kansas is the overall leader – 28 strokes ahead of the Cajuns. Individually for the Cajuns, sophomore Mark Brockhurst shot an opening day 153 to finish in a tie for 40th. Michael Smith posted back-to-back rounds of 77 to finish the day in a tie for 47th. Kyle Prichard and Morgan Landry rounded out the scoring for the Ragin’ Cajuns. Prichard finished the day in a tie for 56th, while Landry shot a 158 on the day. B.C. Thibeaux, playing as an independent, rebounded from an opening round 81 to shoot two-under par and finish the day in a tie for 34th.
