LAFAYETTE-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns completed play in the 21st Annual Louisiana Classics on Tuesday afternoon at Oakbourne Country Club.  The Cajuns entered the day in third place, but were unable to maintain their position and finished the tournament in sixth place. 

The Cajuns shot their worst round of the tournament on the final day as scores for each team were elevated in the final round.  After posting rounds of 289 and 280 on Monday, the Ragin’ Cajuns posted a team score of 301 to drop to sixth place. 

Southeastern Louisiana claimed the 2007 Louisiana Classics title.  The Lions led the entire tournament and despite their highest round of the tournament, SLU was able to claim a six stroke victory. 

Gary Woodland of Kansas claimed the individual tournament title.  Woodland carded rounds of 70 (-2), 65 (-7) and 70 (-2), to finish the tournament 11-under par, three strokes ahead of the second place finisher. 

For the Cajuns, Devin Carrey led the way with a top-20 finish.  Carrey, who shot a team best 66 in round two, carded a final round score of 78 to drop to 18th for the tournament. 

Michael Smith finished just outside of the top-20 with a 21st place finish.  Smith turned in a final round score of 75. 

Smith finished two strokes ahead of teammate Morgan Landry.  Landry shot a final round score of 78 to finish in a tie for 30th. 

Rounding out the scoring for the Cajuns were Justin Lowe and Peter Badawy.  Lowe and Badawy tied for the lowest round of the day for the Cajuns with a final round of 74 each.  Lowe finished the tournament tied for 34th, while Badawy finished in a tie for 43rd. 

A pair of Cajuns competed as individuals during the tournament.  BC Thibeaux and Kyle Prichard turned in final round scores of 80 and 75 respectively.  Thibeaux finished in a tie for 61st, while Pritchard finished in a tie for 68th.
