LITTLE ROCK – Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s and women’s cross country teams closed out the 2006 season on Saturday running in the Johnny Carino’s Sun Belt Cross Country Championships here at Rebsamen Golf Course.

The men’s team finished sixth out of 11 teams in the 8K run with 168 points. The women’s team finished eight out of 11 teams in the 5K run with 200 points.

Phillip Guidry and D.J. Hebert were the top two finishers on the men’s side. Guidry finished 21st with a time of 26:26.09 while Hebert followed him in 22nd place with a time of 26:31.36.

The times were season-highs for both Guidry and Hebert.

On the women’s side, Jasmine Collins and Casey Brown were the 1-2 finishers for the second straight race.

Collins was the 29th to cross the finish line in 19:28.83 while Brown was right behind in 31st place with a time of 19:31.47. Both eclipsed the previous best in the 5K run from earlier this season.

Brent Almand completed the meet in 31st place with a time of 27:01.87 which was five minutes faster than his previous 8K race.

Suzanne Boudreaux ran the women’s 5K in 19:45.50 giving the UL women three finishers with times better than 20 minutes.

Some members of the men's and women's teams will participate in the NCAA South Central Regional on November 11 in Waco, Texas, at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course.
